New Beginning - New Career - Working Together for Better Mental Health
(PRWEB UK) 29 January 2016 -- Children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties in Norfolk and Waveney will benefit from better access to targeted help, at an earlier stage, thanks to a significant investment.
NHS England has given the go-ahead to the implementation of the Local CAMHS Transformation Plan for Norfolk and Waveney which was produced jointly with Norfolk County Council, local CCGs, and our Trust, Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT).
As a result, Norfolk and Waveney (part of Suffolk) will receive an additional £1.9m recurrent funding for the next five years to invest into Children’s Families and Young People (CFYP) mental health services. A proportion of this will go towards increasing staffing in specialist youth services at NSFT and at third sector mental health providers, Ormiston.
Now NSFT will work in partnership with other health and children’s services providers to drive through a range of initiatives, including expanding eating disorders services, creating a single point of access, making more help available for young people in crisis, and improving mental health support in local schools.
A national recruitment campaign has been launched this month (February 2016) to attract experienced and newly qualified staff to join the Trust’s youth service at this exciting time.
Andy Goff, CAMHS Improvement and Development Manager with NSFT said: “Our Trust and Ormiston are creating some exciting career opportunities in our CFYP services across Norfolk and Waveney, with over 30 new jobs in various roles. These include mental health nurses, occupational therapists and assistant psychologists.
“We are looking for people from a variety of backgrounds that may already work with children and young people in mental health, but we are also keen to talk to those who may not have previously considered a career in mental health. This is an opportunity for people from other sectors such as teaching, social care and newly qualified staff to join healthcare.”
NSFT is in the process of creating bespoke training packages to meet the local needs and increase the skills of the workforce.
