New Blog Post on David Resnick & Associates’ Website Calls Attention to Injuries at Amusement Parks
New York, N.Y. (PRWEB) October 05, 2013 -- A new blog article on the website for the law firm of David Resnick & Associates, P.C., “Amusement-Park Injuries Underreported,” calls attention to accidents on rides at amusement parks and traveling carnivals – and to how often these injuries are not reported.
The blog reports on a recent accident at a Connecticut carnival, where 18 people — mostly children — were injured when a swing ride lost power, causing swings to hit each other and riders to fall to the ground.
“Incidents like this one in nearby Connecticut underscore the dangers riders face at amusement parks and traveling carnivals,” said personal injury attorney David Resnick of David Resnick & Associates, P.C., a New York City law firm. “The height and speed of some of these rides can lead to tragic consequences when something goes wrong.”
The blog article cites statistics from the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, which reports that 1,415 injuries occurred on amusement rides in 2011.
But the blog also points out the actual number of ride injuries could be higher than the industry reports, in part because they do not include injuries on mobile rides, such as those at fairs and traveling carnivals.
In addition, the article reports that the Center for Injury Research and Policy of The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, found that 92,885 children were treated in hospital emergency rooms for injuries on amusement rides between 1990 and 2010.
Fixed-site rides accounted for 33 percent of the injuries; mobile rides, 29 percent; and mall rides, 12 percent, the blog article states. Falls caused 32 percent of the injuries, with head and neck injuries being the most common, at 28 percent.
The blog article supplements information on the firm’s website about lawsuits over amusement park accidents. If someone has been injured because a ride was improperly designed, manufactured, set up, inspected, maintained or operated, a lawsuit may be a way to seek compensation for those injuries.
Resnick stressed the importance of speaking with an attorney who has experience in this area to address the specific facts of an individual’s case.
“If you or a loved one has been seriously injured in a New York amusement park accident, David Resnick & Associates, P.C., has the experience and resources to examine your case, protect your rights and seek the compensation you are entitled to under the law,” he said.
