New Book by Donnale Harp Celebrates Pioneer Mother’s Legacy
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (PRWEB) November 18, 2014 -- Author Donnale Harp honors her mother’s spirit and memory while capturing Harp’s own memories of growing up in Oregon through her new book, “Dixie and the Kids” (published by iUniverse).
Harp describes her mother, Dixie, as a pioneer mother who knew how important it was to never give up. After moving to Oregon, Dixie settled Harp and her two siblings into a log cabin situated on 10 acres of wilderness and worked her hardest to provide for them.
“Dixie and the Kids” illustrates how one family worked as a team to overcome obstacles and laugh along the way. The book is narrated by Harp’s family members as well as their animals to portray a multifaceted view of the family dynamic.
“The very nature of the book is different as the ways in which our family chose to solve our problems included hard work and outdoor living,” Harp says. “Our key to success was working as a team and respecting everyone’s suggestions.”
Through her book, Harp aims to preserve Dixie’s legacy for many generations to come. She hopes Dixie’s lessons will resonate with readers from all walks of life.
