New book by Julie Guggino offers in-depth look at John’s Gospel
ELLENSBURG, Wash. (PRWEB) January 28, 2015 -- Author Julie Guggino reveals 17 unique themes in the first chapter of the Gospel of John and delves into their meanings in her new book, “Unpacking John 1: Seventeen Ways God Is Revealed in Chapter 1 of John’s Gospel” (published by WestBow Press).
Each chapter in “Unpacking John 1” is devoted to a single theme. Guggino presents a lengthy discussion of the theme, analyzing its relevance throughout the Old and New Testaments and relating it to modern life.
Guggino says that as she delved further into the first chapter of John’s Gospel, she felt her beliefs were challenged and even changed. Her writings provide new perspectives on common themes such as grace, light and darkness and encourage readers to think outside the box.
A Bible studies teacher herself, Guggino brings more than 50 years of Bible study to “Unpacking John 1,” and intends for it to be used in Bible study classes. Through her book, she hopes readers will find inspiration and new biblical meanings in her writings.
“I want my readers to find the courage to wrestle with concepts they may have always believed but aren’t sure why, and to have their beliefs challenged,” Guggino says. “I want them to allow their hearts and minds to approach the Scriptures in a fresh way.”
