New Book by Mish Mockovic Martin Highlights Healing Powers of Yoga
Wamberal, Australia (PRWEB) March 16, 2015 -- After undergoing major back surgery in 2007, author and yoga instructor Mish Mockovic Martin faced a long recovery process, which included learning how to walk again. Mockovic Martin participated in an intense two-year yoga rehabilitation program that would change the course of her life.
Her new book, “Insights of a Yogi: Understanding Karma through Life’s Experiences” (published by Balboa Press AU), chronicles the events that led to Martin’s eventual injury and how yoga taught her to heed her body’s signals and embrace the power of her emotions.
Martin frequently experienced back pain as an adult, but rather than confronting the physical pain, she relied heavily on prescription drugs and alcohol. After her emergency spinal surgery, Mockovic Martin, already a practicing yoga teacher, was still tormented by pain. It was then she discovered the underlying cause – her childhood of abuse.
Part memoir and part yoga guide, “Insights of a Yogi” weaves yoga ideas and practices into Martin’s life as she learns to harness her emotional and physical power. Readers will gain the tools needed to let go of stress and anxiety, heal their bodies and achieve inner peace.
“I share my story, but at the same time make references to ancient yogic philosophy, which at times can be complex and confusing to understand,” Martin says. “By using my life as an example, I hope to explain yoga in everyday terms and point out the beauty of the practice that is a gift to all.”
