New book Chronicles Fight for Identity Amidst Family Dysfunction
LOWELL, Mass. (PRWEB) April 16, 2015 -- When George DeMoulas’ family emigrated from Greece to Ellis Island, their hope was to begin building a better life for generations to come. However, as DeMoulas’ father, Arthur, created a multi-billion dollar corporation, he ruthlessly abandoned his mistress and their five children. Left living in his father’s shadow, DeMoulas and his family struggled to survive in public housing.
DeMoulas’ new memoir, “Illegit” (published by AuthorHouse) chronicles the loneliness, abandonment and addiction he faced as his father deserted the family and lived an unattached life with no interest in acknowledging him as a son.
After fighting to prove his legacy through DNA analysis and determined to thrive despite these setbacks, DeMoulas has embraced his struggles and since become a successful entrepreneur.
“I believe experience to be the greatest teacher,” DeMoulas says. “Feeling an overwhelming need to tell my story for my mother and siblings, I hope my memoir will turn others’ suffering into inspiration and empower them to never lose hope.”
The DeMoulas family’s American dream led to corporate greed and deception, which ultimately sparked an internal family feud that would continue for decades. Despite the turbulence, in 2014 Forbes ranked the DeMoulas family as the 104th richest family in America, with a net worth of $2.2 billion.
