New Book Encourages Patients to Take Charge of Their Healthcare
STAMFORD, Conn. (PRWEB) October 16, 2017 -- Board-certified physician Kilbourn Gordon III, M.D. has released his first book, “Med School for Patients 101,” a step-by-step guide that highlights the importance of communication and information within the patient care experience.
According to his guide, the patient must play a direct role in being comprehensively prepared when receiving an evaluation or treatment. Since visits can be limited to as little as 15 minutes, the patient preparation and involvement in the visit becomes paramount.
He also includes strategies for uncovering the correct diagnosis when no physician has been able to uncover the medical truth.
“Everything that happens during this session is important,” Gordon said. “Your preparedness, your personal medical notes, your questions, and the information you expect to receive from your caregiver can all shape your patient-doctor experience and relationship.”
Gordon developed the work using real-life interactions with his own patients and their personal styles, to prime readers for doctor visits and to ultimately ensure beneficial results for both sides.
In “Med School for Patients 101,” Gordon takes the apprehension and guesswork out of medical appointments by encouraging patients to become proactive participants in their own assessments and therapies.
