New Book, "I Will Never Forget", by Elaine Pereira, Focuses on the Terrifying and Heartbreaking Personal Journey Down Dementia’s Path
Detroit, MI (PRWEB) July 16, 2014 -- Every 67 seconds someone in the United States develops Alzheimer’s Disease, according to the Alzheimer’s Association’s website.
The above statistic makes it clear that every day, more and more people will either become directly or indirectly affected by dementia, whether through a loved one, friend or family member.
“I Will Never Forget: A Daughter’s Story of Her Mother’s Arduous and Humorous Journey through Dementia” is the emotional story of author Elaine Pereira’s experience with her mother’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Pereira gives her audience entertaining glimpses into her own childhood and feisty teenage years, demonstrating her mother’s strength of character.
“As my mother began exhibiting bizarre behaviors and paranoia, I became mystified by her amazing ability to mask the truth of what was really happening,” said Pereira.
Her mother’s subtle way of camouflaging her decline clouded clouded Pereira’s vision and prolonged her denial until one cataclysmic explosion of realty over an innocuous drapery rod launched a waterfall of destructive events.
As her mother’s brilliant mind was steadily destroyed by Dementia’s insatiable appetite for brain cells, Pereira accompanied her mother on her journey.
