New Book Illuminates Contemporary Teachings that Guide Humanity to an Integrated and Holistic Future
VANCOUVER (PRWEB) October 23, 2017 -- Today, humanity faces societal upheaval in the form of racial, political and cultural differences that divide humanity. For David Johnston, an answer to this dangerous situation has already been given by great contemporary, spiritual and cultural leaders. He discusses their messages in “Prophets in Our Midst: Jung, Tolkien, Gebser, Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.”
“Prophets in Our Midst” showcases five essays crafted by Johnston that stem from the work of highly respected philosophic and cultural leaders. Johnston gives prominence to the teachings of Sri Aurobindo, and the Mother and Carl Jung, He emphasizes his appreciation for the aforementioned trailblazers and their teachings. He also writes appreciatively of J.R.R. Tolkien’s contributions to popular culture and Jean Gebser’s explanatory description of the evolution of consciousness.
Johnston specifically focuses on the collective messages of these cultural leaders, highlighting the need for individuals to assimilate the meaning of their teachings in order to participate in a fulfilling future for both individual and society. He urges cultural renewal, while promoting dynamic self-reflection and action for spiritual growth that effectively improves society.
“My goal is to clarify each proponent’s messages about our unfolding cultural consciousness,” Johnston said. “Each of the five individuals discussed in Prophets in Our Midst have important directives for humanity that can help it navigate the future. Together, they have given a vision for responsible cultural renewal as a counterweight to the contemporary forces of disintegration and destruction.”
