New Book Makes the Case for Physician Leadership
Tampa, Fla. (PRWEB) August 26, 2015 -- The American Association for Physician Leadership® has released a new book addressing the keys to effective physician leadership, Inspired Physician Leadership, by Charles R. Stoner and Jason S. Stoner.
The book takes current and aspiring physician leaders on a tour of the key elements of leadership and places a particular emphasis on interpersonal skills, including active and engaged listening, resolving conflicts and building trust and influence in health care environments.
“Our goal with the book was to address key issues and offer workable solutions to real concerns and situations that physicians encounter,” said Charles Stoner. “It focuses on the physician’s personal transition into the realm of leadership and the interpersonal challenges that accompany this new, expanded and largely unfamiliar role.”
The authors drew upon their research and work with physicians and non-physicians at nationally known health care systems to summarize the most critical leadership skills for physicians in today’s environment.
“This book is a must read for physicians at any career stage who are ready to advance their leadership skills to the next level,” said Peter Angood, MD, FACS, FRCS(C), MCCM, president and CEO of the American Association for Physician Leadership. “After reading this book, physicians will be asking themselves critical questions to make themselves better leaders.”
The book is available for purchase on the association’s website at http://www.physicianleaders.org/inspired.
