New Book, ‘Marriage in Modern Life,’ Guides Couples To A Better Relationship
CHICAGO, IL (PRWEB) May 20, 2015 -- Anne Malec, a clinical psychologist and marriage and family therapist, has announced the release of her book “Marriage in Modern Life: Why It Works, When It Works.”
“As a therapist, I have run into the same troubling patterns, couple after couple, year after year,” Malec says. “I wrote this book to offer practical and actionable tools to help when problems arise.”
The book, published by Advantage, gives advice about marriage in modern life that can apply to young couples just starting out or couples who have been together for years, but who know their relationship can be better.
“Marriage is a complex, ever-evolving relationship that challenges partners to remain active in their efforts to maintain it,” Malec says. “The components of a healthy relationship – affection, commitment and intimacy – may seem abstract, but I have found that there are specific actions couples can take to prioritize their relationship and make it last.”
She says our culture and society don’t provide much education and training about how to successfully engage in healthy, long-term relationships. Too many people go into marriage with unrealistic expectations or are unsure how to make it work. Malec is hopeful “Marriage in Modern Life” will help fill the gap in relationship knowledge.
“Much of what we need to be successful in a relationship can be learned,” Malec says. “It is not magic or mysterious. It is about engaging in the right behaviors to enhance the relationship.”

Dr. Anne Brennan Malec (http://www.drannemalec.com) is the founder and managing partner of Symmetry Counseling, a group counseling, coaching and psychotherapy practice in Chicago. She also is author of the book “Marriage in Modern Life: Why It Works, When It Works.” Dr. Malec earned her Bachelor’s degree from Villanova University in Accountancy and holds two Master’s degrees: one in Liberal Studies from DePaul University, and one in Marital and Family Therapy from Northwestern University.
