New book ‘Max and the Monkeys’ teaches children problem-solving skills
GOLD COAST, Australia (PRWEB) April 15, 2015 -- Ushering in the next installment in her Little Mates series, author Jo Spicer publishes her new children’s book “Max and the Monkeys: Little Mates Series Book 2” (published by Balboa Press AU).
Illustrated by her daughter, Spicer’s new book features a story about Max, the oldest of the Little Mates. One day, Max eagerly visits the zoo so he can see a monkey – his favorite animal. While viewing the monkey’s habitat, Max climbs over the wall and plays with a monkey and its various toys, including a ball, a kite, a tennis racket and a jump rope.
But after a short while, Max realizes he is all alone and unable to get out of the habitat on his own. Searching through the monkey’s toys, he finds a silver whistle that only dogs can hear. Max must then use his resourcefulness to find a method of escape.
Written in rhyming verse, Spicer’s “Max and the Monkeys” is a book that can teach children important problem-solving skills.
“Most children find themselves separated from their parents at one time or another and they can relate to Max when he realizes he is alone,” Spicer says. “They will learn from the book that they don’t need to panic. By staying calm, they can think clearly and work out a solution. This is a fantastic life lesson.”
