New Book of Homilies Shares ‘Light in the Dark’ to Brighten Life
NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (PRWEB) June 25, 2015 -- Donald Anyagwa shines a “Light in the Dark” (published by Xlibris UK) with his homilies, illuminating words of wisdom and faith that connect readers and believers with the Divine. These stories lift the soul up and offer inspiration and guidance for navigating through life.
Anyagwa has always felt fascinated and amazed to see the overwhelming comments, compliments and commendations of people with regard to his homilies, and he thought it would be of good service to make a compilation and documentation of them so as to reach out to a greater audience as well. His book shares the homilies he preached through the Church’s Liturgical Year of Cycle A. It is a step-by-step approach of using the indispensable tool – the word of God, made accessible in the Liturgical Readings – to reach the hearts, minds and souls of the listening congregation. According to Anyagwa, the word of God brings light to the dark corners of their lives and thus leads them to a new horizon of hope.
“There is in our world incessant silent echoes of deception, spread storms of indifference, hidden slave masters that are hindrances to the hearts and minds of those on the roadway to salvation,” the author says. “The only way out of this humankind’s disorientation; the one remaining consolation to the troubled souls of men and women, and the return of peace to the thirsting world, will be the light that comes from the word of God made flesh in Christ. It is thus a great gift a priest-homilist and preacher offers the people, as they assemble to commune with their God in the Eucharistic liturgy.”
With “Light in the Dark,” Anyagwa synthesizes his experiences from the church settings of both the United States and Nigeria, providing homilies that contextualize and adapt biblical passages, stories and scenes to the circumstances and lives of today’s listeners and worshippers.
