New Book Shares Example of Medical Malpractice As Warning for Authors
Stroudsburg, PA (PRWEB) May 23, 2014 -- According to The Becker’s Hospital Review, over 30 percent of all malpractice lawsuits come about due to the death of a patient. Sadly, Conrad Cohen’s wife, Lorraine, was one such victim.
Lorraine was hospitalized after a stroke, which led to dementia that required medical assistance. This visit would ultimately lead to her death when her doctors prescribed medication that was ill-suited for patients with dementia resulting in Lorraine having two more strokes. The Becker’s Hospital Review also discloses that Pennsylvania has the second highest payout rate on malpractice claims, yet Cohen has been left abandoned with no one to help him.
Cohen has released his new book, “Justice for Lorraine,” to do exactly as the title says, bring attention to the wrongs done and get justice for the loss of his wife.
“I have sought legal counsel and action,” Cohen said. “No one will help me and the people who did this continue to practice, gambling with more lives. I am taking it upon myself to get the message out there so others can learn to watch their medical professionals by asking the right questions.”
“Justice for Lorraine” compiles prescription forms, medical documents and complaint letters interwoven with the memoir of a loving couple who were separated by medical mistreatment. Cohen was in the NYPD for 21 years and taught criminal justice, now he hopes to bring attention to the flaws of the U.S. medical system and warn others of the dangers they may face.

Conrad Cohen was in World War II, an officer in the New York Police Department for 21 years and taught criminal justice at the university level for 25 years. He was married to Lorraine for 35 years before her death in 2009.
