New CDC Study On Dental Cavities Sounds the Alarm, Notes Dr. Farzad Feiz
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 09, 2015 -- According to a May 13th Newsmax article, a new study conducted by the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that around 91 percent of all U.S. adults had a dental cavity in the one year period from 2011-2012. The study found that, overall, people are more likely to suffer from tooth decay as they get older. In fact, the percentage of Americans with at least one dental cavity rises to 96 percent among 65 year-olds. According to Dr. Farzad Feiz, a popular dentist for Agoura Hills residents and the head of the Calabasas Dental Group and California Dental Care, “there are several things that patients can do to help them stay out of that frightening statistic:”
• “Always Remember to Brush” – Although many dentists can begin to sound like a broken record when they repeatedly tell patients to keep up on their brushing and flossing, its importance truly cannot be stressed enough. “Preventative care is the basis of a healthy smile, and that means brushing twice a day for at least two minutes each time.” While dentists can do quite a bit to fix dental problems such as a cavity, it is always better to avoid them in the first place with diligent brushing and flossing.
• “Drink Fluoridated Water” – Many dentists believe that one of the reasons why tooth decay is becoming more common is that people are moving away from tap water that contains fluoride. This is both because bottled water is growing in popularity, and because certain communities and interest groups have come to the incorrect conclusion that fluoridated water is somehow unsafe. By drinking fluoridated tap water and using a fluoride toothpaste product, you can help stop the cavities from forming.
• “Keep Your Appointments” – Both for financial reasons and because of anxiety, many Americans do not regularly go to a dentist. Dr. Feiz is a leading choice of dentist for Calabasas residents who may feel nervous about their dental experience. Dr. Feiz and the rest of the team at the Calabasas Dental Group and California Dental Care “put patient comfort first, so children and adults can receive the cavity fillings they need without anxiety.”
