New changes to Williamsport PA through Big Statues.
(PRWEB) June 26, 2015 -- It appears Williamsport has some unfinished business with beautifully sculpted bronze statues. Last summer, the Little League World Series commissioned 10 statues to be created by Big Statues, each one representing a significant moment in the sports history. During the 75th Anniversary of the game in Williamsport, PA, last year, the statues were unveiled in the city center. Stephen D. Keener, President of the Little League Foundation, gave a wonderful speech at the unveiling to welcome the statues and all that they represent. ESPN was also covering the unveiling and played the special story just before the World Series Championship game.
Looking back on the project lead sculptor Matt Glenn of Big Statues said, "I've received so much positive feedback from so many people. Everyone has fallen in love with these little baseball players. I hope to someday create the rest of the team." It's almost been a whole year since the big unveiling has taken place, and the statues now have been placed on each corner of Williamsport's downtown Market Square intersection as it has been modified into a baseball diamond with a backstop and the 10 life-sized bronze statues. The statues have made an impact for the town as they have not only become a popular picture place for today’s little league players, but also because of the history of such a town that they represent. However, the unveilings in Williamsport aren’t over yet. Though much can’t be said, what is in the works now won’t disappoint.
