New Chief Medical Officer for Government Programs Named at Horizon NJ Health
Newark, NJ (PRWEB) January 07, 2015 -- Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (BCBSNJ) announced today that Paul Alexander, MD, MPH has been appointed Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Government Programs at its wholly-owned subsidiary Horizon NJ Health.

With more than 20 years of health plan experience, Dr. Alexander has led global and national cross-functional teams with improved outcomes. He has a strong background in the life sciences and managed market sectors with specific expertise in the areas of population health, quality and medical management, clinical care integration, network and risk management, and revenue maximization strategies.
Before joining Horizon NJ Health, Dr. Alexander was with Gorman Health Group, where he advised Medicare Advantage plans across the country. Prior to Gorman Health Group, Dr. Alexander was a Regional Chief Medical Officer for UnitedHealthcare Community & State where he focused on Medicaid, Dual Special Needs Plans, and Long Term Services and Supports. He has also held senior level clinical positions at Independence Blue Cross, Health Partners and AstraZeneca.
Dr. Alexander is a former Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Policy at Wharton School in Philadelphia, PA. He was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine from the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland, OH and a master’s degree in Public Health (Health Administration & Epidemiology) from Columbia University School of Public Health, New York, NY.
