New College of the Humanities Offers up Economics and Politics BSc for 2015 entry
(PRWEB UK) 30 January 2015 -- Students will study a total of six modules in Economics and six modules in Politics for the Economics & Politics BSc. In addition, those who study four modules of Philosophy as a Contextual Course would experience a competitive PPE programme. Undergraduates who complete the course will be awarded a University of London joint honours Economics & Politics BSc, and the NCH Diploma.
As with all other subjects offered by New College of the Humanities, students will experience the full range of NCH teaching styles - considered the gold standard in a humanities education - including: one-to-one tutorials, small group tutorials, at least 20 hours of lectures for each module, and bespoke professional development support and guidance from the College’s Director of Professional Development.
Dr Marianna Koli, Head of the Economics Faculty, comments: “I am delighted that we are adding a joint honours programme to our offering and combining these closely related subjects. Our Economics and Politics students already collaborate in some of their modules, and we find the two groups complement each other very well. This programme is a natural extension of the thoroughly interdisciplinary nature of the College’s endeavours.”
The College also hosts a wealth of high profile visiting lecturers, including Professors Sir Partha Dasgupta and Vernon Bogdanor CBE, FBA, amongst many others, each of whom gives a series of lectures a year, and among the full-time Economics and Politics Faculty members are Dr Diana Bozhilova, Dr Marianna Koli, Dr Jungyoon Lee, Dr Mike Peacey, Dr Joanne Paul, and Dr Melania Nica.
In addition to their 12-module single honours undergraduate degree from the University of London, all NCH students study a further eight modules. These comprise four modules from either another degree subject or Art History, Classical Studies, or Psychology as a contextual course, and three Core Modules in Applied Ethics, Logic & Critical Thinking, and Science Literacy, as well as the College’s three-year Professional Programme.
