New Development Director for ABCD: After Breast Cancer Diagnosis
Glendale, WI (PRWEB) February 24, 2014 -- ABCD: After Breast Cancer Diagnosis has appointed Christina Berger its first Development Director. Formerly a Senior Manager PDP on Baker Tilly Virchow Krause’s Strategic Tax Team and a participant in its distinct leadership development program, Christina brings extraordinary relationship management and strategic planning skills to ABCD. An alumna of Marquette University Law School, Christina has both regional and national client service experience, as well as expertise garnered through extensive community nonprofit Board service.
As Development Director, Christina will build more diversified resource streams for ABCD and work as a partner with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to promote ABCD’s mission to an expanding audience of stakeholders. She will also guide special initiatives related to ABCD’s upcoming 15th Anniversary and serve as a member of ABCD’s executive leadership team.
Founded in 1999 by Emmy Award-winning journalist, Melodie Wilson Oldenburg, ABCD provides free, personalized information and one-to-one support to people affected by breast cancer – patients, families and friends. Its work is accomplished primarily through a volunteer corps of trained and supported breast cancer survivors and co-survivors who provided one-to-one support. ABCD calls them mentors.
Ahead of its time in the field of cancer survivorship service, ABCD’s continuum of free services includes immediate support from Helpline Mentors, connection to personalized resources from Resource Mentors and, ABCD’s signature service, ongoing customized support from Match Mentors.
ABCD is in the midst of dramatic expansion with deeper levels of service in southeast Wisconsin and broader service statewide. In addition, ABCD’s services, which are provided via telephone and internet, are increasingly provided across the nation.
This expansion is part of a multi-year strategic plan to transform the expectations for breast cancer support and empower survivors for a healing journey.
