New Editions of world best-selling “The Lovers’ Guide” aim to educate the internet generation about safe, satisfying and sensual sex
London, UK (PRWEB UK) 14 August 2013 -- The Lovers’ Guide (rated as “The world’s best-selling sex guide – ever” by The Guardian (1)), began as a ground-breaking series of videos and publications from 1991. Now the number one brand for sex and relationships has re-launched its books, Lovers Guide Laid Bare and its comprehensive Lovers Guide Illustrated Encyclopedia – which could easily be subtitled, ‘All you ever wanted to know about sex (…and should’ve dared to ask)’.
The Encyclopedia, which has been re-published this July, was not re-printed by Bloomsbury after selling out in 1986 as it clashed with the publisher’s new best-seller at the time, Harry Potter.
Susan Quilliam, author of The Joy of Sex, originally written by Dr Alex Comfort in 1972, says: "Biased though I am, I reckon there were two key brands which have forever changed the world view of sexuality: The Lovers' Guide and The Joy of Sex. I've been privileged to rework the latter following the death of Dr Alex Comfort. I’m now delighted to review the latest offering from the former.
“The Lovers' Guide Illustrated Encyclopedia is, as it claims, is a comprehensive guide to the facts and figures that we all need to know in order to understand sex through the ages and across cultures. It makes the information easily and directly accessible; whatever knowledge you need is there to hand. Buy it, peruse it, and keep it on your bookshelf and within easy reach," she says.
Susan Quilliam, a relationship coach, agony aunt for Fabulous magazine and worldwide selling author on the subject of sex, love and relationships says these classic sex books offer curious teenagers a safer, more informative and realistic alternative to the internet’s vast, confusing and sometimes dangerous window on the world of sex.
But is there competition between the giant brands of sex education? There is more of a love-in, it seems, with both wanting to realistically inform today’s young people and share their knowledge with all generations. And so Susan Quilliam has generously offered to write a review or feature article on the new Lovers’ Guide publications.
Robert Page, creator of the Lovers’ Guide, says, “It may be down to classic brands like ours and The Joy of Sex, as re-written by Susan, to help parents, teachers and young people themselves to understand that sexual relationships are more complex, both physically and emotionally, than the superficial and sometimes hazardous world of internet sex suggests.”
Lovers’ Guide Illustrated Encyclopedia is available on Amazon priced £16.95. The Lovers’ Guide Laid Bare – The Art of Better Lovemaking is available on Amazon priced £9.99.
