NEW Educational Information about Premature Infant Development Featured in the Expansion of PeekabooICU.com
MATHEWS, NC (PRWEB) April 18, 2016 -- Peekaboo ICU announces the expansion of its educational website, PeekabooICU.com, featuring new information focused on the growth and development of premature infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Easy to navigate and mobile friendly, the site is divided into six sections helping parents understand the needs of their preemie in the NICU. Information can be downloaded and printed for use directly at the bedside.
"Parents of premature infants are typically overwhelmed, unprepared, and filled with questions about the health of their vulnerable newborn,” says Jodi Dolezel, R.N. and co-founder of Peekaboo ICU. “Our hope is to ease their anxiety by providing a helpful resource during this stressful time.”
Some of the new information developed includes sleep and healing, managing pain and stress, family centered care, and optimal nutrition, Dolezel says that the site was designed to help normalize some of the experiences and “allow parents to be parents.” Parents are given the opportunity to learn about some of the important developmental aspects of prematurity and how they can advocate for and be more confident in the care of their baby.
"When parents are given the tools and information they need to help care for their preemie in the NICU, it can change how they view their experience. Not only is this important for them, but for their baby too,” she says.

Peekaboo ICU was founded in 2011, originally created as a personal blog for Dolezel, who felt the need to journal her experiences as a bedside NICU nurse after losing one of her tiny patients.
