New Educational Program by Marianna Korol for Kids 3 to 8 Years Old Teaches EQ over IQ
Toronto, ON (PRWEB) January 30, 2015 -- Marianna Korol, a seasoned professional childhood music educator/composer based in Toronto, has recently created a program to help children ages three to eight learn about their emotions and how to manage them. This program, called the Development of Emotional Intelligence in Children, aims to teach younger children who may have issues expressing their feelings or controlling them how to embrace and manage their feelings. The program makes extensive use of music that is all original compositions by Korol that were specifically written for the program.
As important as mathematics, languages and the sciences, Marianna chooses to focus on emotional intelligence as it is also a very imperative component of a child’s development and education. Many people have achieved success without any formal education. Astronaut John Glenn, for example, dropped out of college. Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple, also failed to complete college. Mark Twain had very little education—he didn’t even finish high school.
One of the reasons these people may have achieved so much was because of their childhood. Many experts believe that a child’s behavior is formed during their first five to seven years of life. How they learn to control and harness their emotions during this time is how they will continue to deal with them during adulthood. Young children who are not emotionally educated may grow up to have anger issues or be unable to easily communicate their emotions to others.
To make the Children’s Emotional Intelligence Program easily accessible to anyone who has a positive impact on a child, Marianna Korol developed customized versions of her curriculum: one for parents, “Developing Emotional Intelligence in a Child,” and one for professionals and teachers, “Development of Emotional Intelligence in Children.” This educator program has also been successfully tested now in a local Community Center, proving its value and benefit to children within these age ranges.
This is where the Development of Emotional Intelligence in Children program comes into play. It teaches young children how to express themselves through body language, facial expressions, gestures, tone of voice, music, movement, musical instruments, and more. Teachers walk students through the entire emotional range—from happiness and pride to jealousy and anger—and provide them with strategies on how to control these emotions.
The program offers a unique way of teaching children about emotions and how to cope with them. It makes use of several unique features. Korol took care to make certain that any time photos of emotions were needed, they were photos of real children experiencing those emotions. This helps students better understand these feelings and connect with them.
The music composed by Korol for the program draws theories from music therapy. Children begin to associate certain musical patterns and tempos with certain emotions. The Children’s Emotional Intelligence Program will rapidly improve healthy stress management and emotional expression skills, preparing them for social success now, and far into the future
This type of program is the first of its kind in the world. No other program has approached education with an emotions-first approach.
