New Fact Sheet from HNTB Highlights FAST Act’s Section 6004
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (PRWEB) April 25, 2016 -- HNTB Corporation issued a new fact sheet highlighting the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act – Section 6004, which allocates $300 million in federal funds, with a 50 percent non-federal matching requirement to successful transportation agency applicants. Section 6004 supports advanced transportation technologies in an effort to address transportation safety, mobility and air quality challenges in municipalities nationwide.
Ananth Prasad, PE, HNTB transportation practice leader, and Jim Barbaresso, HNTB Intelligent Transportation Systems practice leader, co-authored the fact sheet and said Section 6004 recognizes that integrating large-scale advanced transportation technologies may reduce traffic fatalities and injuries, traffic congestion and transportation-related emissions.
The funding is available to a variety of entities, including state or local governments, metropolitan planning organizations, transit agencies, and research and academic institutions. The deadline to apply is June 3, 2016.
HNTB’s expertise on infrastructure funding spans several disciplines, including tolling, priced managed lanes and the relationship between intelligent transportation systems and future of mileage-based user fees. Please click here to read a Viewpoint about the FAST Act by Prasad.
