Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) February 18, 2014 -- New regulations by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) slated to go into effect during 2014 will require vending machine operators who own or operate 20 or more vending machines to disclose calorie content for certain food and drink items.
As other vending machine companies scramble to find ways to meet these costly regulations, through HealthyYOU Vending's foresight, their distributors already have the upper hand with the option to display the required nutrition information on an easily readable LCD display screen located on the front of their vending machines. This is just one example of how HealthyYOU Vending recognizes industry trends and sets their distributors up for long-term success in the healthy vending industry.
“We have been in the vending industry for over 14 years and have long recognized and built upon the growing shift in public demand for healthier food products away from home. HealthyYOU Vending’s machines offer a wide range of snack and drink products that can be all natural, organic, gluten-free or high in antioxidants — plus they taste great. We’re dedicated to supporting healthy lifestyles and helping our distributors build their own successful businesses,” said Mike Burnett, president of HealthyYOU Vending.
The reasoning behind the new FDA regulations is to give consumers the information they need to make healthier choices when purchasing snacks and drinks from vending machines.
Other tech-savvy HealthyYOU Vending machine features include Smart Card technology, Google/Mobile Wallet and credit/debit card technology, Remote Machine Monitoring and a 7-year Limited Warranty on the USA-made machine.
The regulations on vending machines are part of President Obama’s health care reform legislation, Section 4205 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The new labeling requirements come as a result of FDA estimates that if just two percent of obese adults ate 100 fewer calories per week, it would save at least $24 million in annual health care costs. While the final details on the new FDA regulations have yet to be released, the new rules will only apply to companies or distributors that operate 20 or more machines.
