New Food Tracking Skill Powered by Nutritionix Lets Amazon Alexa Users Navigate Their Daily Food Choices
Washington, DC (PRWEB) June 06, 2016 -- Amazon Alexa users are accustomed to hands-free voice commands and interactions where they can play music, get answers to general questions, set an alarm, order a pizza or call for a ride. Now, thanks to a new Alexa skill powered by Nutritionix (http://www.nutritionix.com), users can also ask Alexa for detailed nutrition information for thousands of common foods and for help adding foods to their personal food logs.
Nutritionix, a developer of interactive nutrition tools and apps, has announced that its cutting-edge food tracking application, Track by Nutritionix, is now accessible to Amazon Alexa users. This new Track skill combines the world’s largest verified nutrition database from Nutritionix with the accessibility of Alexa on Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Amazon Tap or Amazon Fire TV.
“We’re thrilled to work with Nutritionix to launch the Nutritionix Alexa skill, providing an even larger nutrition and food database to our customers,” said Rob Pulciani, Director of Amazon Alexa. “It's more convenient to track your daily food and nutrition when you can use your voice. Alexa now has more nutritional data, so customers are better equipped than ever to tackle their health and fitness goals, just using their voice.”
Users can access the Track skill to ask Alexa for nutrition information for more than 20,000 common foods from the Nutritionix dataset. By using the prompt “Alexa, ask Food Tracker,” users can ask Alexa about any of the eleven nutrients supported by the skill: calories, fat, saturated fat, sodium, cholesterol, carbohydrates, fiber, sugar, protein, potassium, and phosphorous.
With the Track skill, members can also use Alexa to add all the foods they eat right to their Track by Nutritionix food log.
“Our mission is to make it easier for people to understand what they eat. Through the launch of our Amazon Alexa skill, we are excited to enable millions of Amazon Alexa users to better understand and keep track of the foods they eat every day,” said Matt Silverman, Director of Product, Nutritionix.
Current Alexa users can enable this new skill by searching “Track by Nutritionix” in their Alexa app. If you’re not an Alexa device owner, the Nutritionix app can be used with your iOS and Android devices and is available for download at http://www.nutritionix.com/app.
