New Gallery Installation at Boston Children’s Museum Showcases Work of Fort Point Artist, Elisa H. Hamilton

Boston, MA (PRWEB) July 19, 2016 -- Boston Children’s Museum is set to open a new gallery exhibit, “Lines and Vines,” a growing exploration of houseplants. Fort Point artist, Elisa H. Hamilton, brings her favorite houseplants to life on paper and into the gallery in this exhibition about process, growing, and day-to-day beauty.

In this exhibit Hamilton reflects on the space around her – her home. Specifically her houseplants. She has been documenting their constant growth and change over the last few months. The gallery space will be host to her house plants for the duration of the exhibit as well as have mixed media works that reveal her creative process and her house plants growth. There will also be a large interactive chalk board area where visiting families can add their own ideas.

“In much of my work I try to challenge participants - especially adults - to use their imaginations in new ways and step outside of their creative comfort zones; kids are already so ready to do that,” said Elisa H. Hamilton. “Developing this exhibition specifically for a kid-friendly, family audience allowed me to be even more playful with concepts and really indulge in the splendor of colorful spectacle.”

Elisa H. Hamilton is a multimedia artist whose work focuses on the joy found in our everyday places, objects, and experiences. An Arlington native, she earned her BFA in Painting in 2007 from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She maintains a diligent studio practice and has taught at The Eliot School, Harvard Summer School, and Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Her projects include Silver Lining, a public art initiative that challenged the public to seek the good in our ordinary lives, An Apple A Day, an installation of 365 apple drawings at The Fitchburg Art Museum as part of their 2013 exhibition Still Life Lives, and Dance Spot, an ongoing interactive public art experience that transforms ordinary spaces into dance floors.

Hours and Admission
The Museum is open daily from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Fridays until 9:00 p.m. Adults, $16, children (1-15) and senior citizens, $16; children under 12 months and Museum members are always free. Fridays 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., all visitors $1.
