New Gotoky, Device that Creates a Personal Cellular Network in Remote Locations/during Natural Disasters, Connects with Backers to Surpass Kickstarter Goal
Eindhoven, Netherlands (PRWEB) September 22, 2017 -- Gotoky, an advanced secure off-grid communication device that enables iOS and Android smartphone users to operate and create their own Mesh network when service is unavailable, unreliable or unaffordable, quickly surpassed its campaign goal on Kickstarter – raising nearly $30,000 from crowdfunding backers.

Loncar said the response among crowdfunders shows there is a need for a product like Gotoky in the marketplace, offering smartphone users an affordable way to set up their own networks should they need them in remote locations, during emergencies or when using hot-spots or other methods are cost prohibitive.
When Gotoky is paired with a smartphone, users can securely:
- Talk (1-to-1 and group communications)
- Send texts (1-to-1 and to a group)
- Activate an ‘Emergency Location Beacon’ when in distress
- Use navigation
- Send GPS locations to other Gotoky users on detailed off-line topographic maps
- Use real time tracking
- Create events,
- Ping a location
Gotoky works over standard license-free radio frequencies and it doesn’t require any cellular infrastructure or satellites. The device automatically and securely relays messages over other Gotokys in the user’s area. The range can be extended beyond point-to-point, allowing users to make their own network. Loncar says the average distance covers 9.3 miles (15 kilometers), which can be extended to nearly 19 miles (30 kilometers) with more users.
Loncar came up with the concept for Gotoky after he was injured while hiking in the mountains and had no signal and no way to contact anyone for help.
“My story had a happy ending because I was rescued by some other hikers who happened into my area, but it could have very well ended in disaster,” Loncar said. “While the catalyst in creating Gotoky was to enable active outdoor people to stay connected in remote locations, it’s perfect for people who live in remote areas, for travelers abroad and want to communicate for free and avoid exorbitant roaming charges, and for professional and working teams who need to stay in constant group communication in remote working environments.”
