New Haven Auto Accident Lawyer at the Law Offices Of Mark E. Salomone & Morelli Comments on Serious Rear-End Accident on I-95 In Connecticut
New Haven, CT (PRWEB) April 18, 2014 -- A 34-year-old New Haven man was nearly killed in a serious rear-end car accident on I-95 in which the driver crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer parked alongside the highway, the Connecticut Post (3/8/14) reported. The crash should serve as a reminder to motorists to remain alert when driving on one of the busiest highways in the country, according to Connecticut personal injury attorney Joe Morelli of the Law Offices of Mark E. Salomone & Morelli.
Commenting on the Post article, Morelli said it’s not exactly clear what caused the driver to enter the shoulder, based on the story, but in general he urges drivers to avoid distractions at all times and observe speed limits, especially when traveling on the interstate highway.
“The driver who crashed into the back of an 18-wheeler on Interstate 95 in Connecticut is lucky to be alive. Our thoughts go out to this driver and his family,” Morelli said. “Far too often, we see fatal car accidents on this heavily traveled highway. We know because our law firm has worked with families dealing with the loss of a loved one in an auto accident on I-95. These are the most difficult cases we handle at Salomone & Morelli. That’s why we urge Connecticut drivers to use caution at all times. Driving along the highway in Connecticut can be unpredictable, but you can reduce your risk of an accident by remaining alert and observing the rules of the road.”
The serious rear-end accident occurred on I-95 northbound on March 8 shortly before 4 a.m. between exits 2 and 3 on I-95 in Greenwich, Conn., the Connecticut Post reported. According to police interviewed by the Connecticut Post, the driver of an Audi SUV drove onto the highway’s paved shoulder, hit a frozen snow bank, then crashed into the rear end of a tractor trailer parked along the side of the highway.
Rescue workers spent 90 minutes extracting the driver of the Audi from the vehicle, the Connecticut Post reported. Rescue workers said if the driver’s SUV had gone any further underneath the tractor-trailer, “the accident would have been catastrophic,” a Greenwich police officer told the Connecticut Post. The driver injured in the accident was transported to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, as of March 10, according to the Connecticut Post.
Interstate 95 in Connecticut is one of the deadliest highways in America. Specifically, this 111-mile-long section of I-95 was rated the 51st deadliest highway in America by The Daily Beast (5/30/2010) based on accident statistics compiled between 2004 and 2008 by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Two other Connecticut highways were also included on the same list of deadly highways: Interstate 91 in Connecticut finished 28th and Interstate 84 in Connecticut was ranked 86th.
Connecticut car accident lawyer Joe Morelli said accidents that are caused by the negligence of another individual or company may call for legal action. He said anyone injured in a highway accident or anyone who loses a loved one in a wreck should seek the advice of legal counsel. He said an attorney can pursue compensation for the injured or the family and hold the at-fault person or company accountable.
