New Historical Fiction Explores Life in 19th Century Rural America
PHOENIX (PRWEB) March 13, 2018 -- Carol Walls Howell has released her historical fiction novel, “Daybreak in Indiana”, which follows a 19th century family on their journey from Kentucky to Indiana to claim new land and begin farming.
As a sequel to Howell’s first novel, “Sunset in Kentucky,” this story chronicles trials and triumphs the Patterson family faces while getting settled in their new community. As the Patterson children grow older, the family encounters challenges which teach acceptance and growth. Daybreak in Indiana depicts life in a rural farming community and gives readers a glimpse into the family and community dynamics of 19th century rural America.
“While in Kentucky several years ago I began the search for my ancestors, the Patterson family from Ireland.” the author said. “This quest led me to write my first novel “Sunset in Kentucky” and now the sequel, “Daybreak in Indiana.”
Although set in a different time, the themes of love, growth, and acceptance transcend time and are relatable to readers of all ages.

About the author
Carol Walls Howell graduated from the Swinney Conservatory of Music with a bachelor’s degree in music education in 1973. She taught high school and elementary music for twenty-two years. During that time, she worked on her librarian degree and was a combination librarian and music teacher. Howell lives on a small farm in Missouri with her husband, Carl. They have two grown children, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
