New Hospital to be Named In Honor of Chris Kyle for His Service and Commitment to Fellow Troops
Anchorage, AK (PRWEB) July 22, 2015 -- Scheduled for July 28 from 11:30 am – 2:00 pm, the Chris Kyle Patriots Hospital will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony, launching the first in-patient treatment center in Alaska that will specialize in supporting Service members and Veterans with critical mental health needs and substance abuse treatment. Guest speakers at the ceremony include Lt. Gen. Russell Handy, Alaska Command; Representative Bob Herron, Alaska House of Representatives Military and Veteran Affairs Committee; Alan B. Miller, Founder, Chairman & CEO of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS); Taya Kyle, Spouse of Chris Kyle and Debra Osteen, UHS President Behavioral Division.
“As many are aware, Chris Kyle was a decorated Veteran who selflessly dedicated his time to serving our country and those fellow troops transitioning from Service. His Military accomplishments and dedication to serving others are an example for all of us, which continue to motivate and inspire us to better serve our Service members and Veterans in Alaska. We are honored by his wife, Taya’s willingness to allow us to dedicate the facility in honor of Chris. The Chris Kyle Patriots Hospital will be a part of his continued legacy of caring for others,” stated Dr. Andrew Mayo, CEO of North Star Behavioral Health.
Located in Anchorage, the Chris Kyle Patriots Hospital is a subsidiary of UHS and will be operated by North Star Behavioral Health System. In 2014, Army OneSource along with North Star and other key organizations formed the Alaska Forget Me Not Coalition for Service Members, Veterans and Families. At inception, the Coalition committed to increasing collaboration among agencies serving Alaska’s Military and Veterans and improving access to services in the communities in which these men and women live. The Chris Kyle Patriots Hospital is a proven example of community collaboration.
“We are honored to be a part of these combined efforts for tangible support. With the challenges of rural geography and limited resources, the new hospital serves as a closer opportunity for treatment and services. The members of the Coalition have assisted in facilitating the training designed specifically for the challenges that impact those who have served,” said Colette Moring, Army OneSource State Community Support Coordinator.
With an intensive dual track treatment program, the Chris Kyle Patriots Hospital will be a resource for individuals who have experienced trauma or need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Additionally, the hospital will offer support and continuing education for all Military Families in Alaska.
The ribbon cutting ceremony is made possible by Army OneSource, North Star Behavioral Health, Universal Health Services and Taya Kyle, Spouse of Chris Kyle.
