New Hudsonville-Based Biomedical Startup, Imago Prints, Uses Patient-Specific Ultrasound Data to Produce One-of-a-Kind 3D Printed Renderings of Infants During Pregnancy
Hudsonville, MI (PRWEB) October 30, 2013 -- Imago Prints, a division of Michigan-based company Engineering 4 Life, offers services using ultrasound applications to provide a 3D experience in a new dimension. Salvatore Vilardi, the engineer and creative mind behind Engineering 4 Life, decided to explore the possibilities of their services further into another market. Vilardi soon realized the same technology used to create patient specific models and guides used to aid pre-surgical planning and modeling could be used for a completely, yet equally important purpose. By using facets of a patient’s pregnancy ultrasound, they are able to create a 3D print of an infant in its development better described as: 3 dimensional models, physical products patients can hold in their hands or have framed to be placed within the walls of their home.
Vilardi and his wife Alexis are focused on bringing this new technology to three markets across the country. Firstly, they are interested in partnering with clinics that already provide ultrasound and sonogram services to their patients. They are interested in servicing practices and practitioners who would like to deliver a unique, multi-faceted product in addition to the widely accepted 3D ultrasound images so many patients are enjoying today. Secondly, they desire to reach out to the consumer directly to showcase the importance of treasuring the moments during pregnancy prior to their child being born. Their services provide a way to share a short moment in time with friends and family members in a unique way via their 3D rendered models. Lastly, building on the characteristics of their Christian faith, they want to provide Pro-Life organizations the opportunity to give mothers of expectant children more than the gift of a typical ultrasound, a whole and complete physical rendering of their unborn child.
Patient specific solutions: 3D conversions and models from scan images, simulations and models, device design and engineering assistance, bench top testing models, medical illustration and analysis.
Consumer applications: taking your infant's development in the womb to a whole new 3D dimension.
Ministry applications: providing the opportunity for un-expectant mothers to cherish and embrace the gift of life.
"The name Imago from the Latin origin simply means image, but it has acquired a number of different meanings over time. In the Christian theology, it refers to the "image Dei", the image of God in which human beings were created and which they should strive to conform. In terms of psychology, the word imago references an often idealized image of an individual, formed in childhood and persisting unconsciously into adulthood. What better way to term the work that we do, providing parents a physical image of their child, their child created in the image of God, persisting from infancy into adulthood," says Alexis Vilardi.
"We desire to provide a service that allows the clinics we partner with to take an ultrasound and make a 3d print, a physical product you can hold. We want to give parents something tangible to celebrate the moments of pregnancy and for those who are struggling to make a choice to give their unborn child life, a reason to choose life," says Salvatore.
