New life for F-16s | Stauder Technologies expands availability of digital innovation for legacy aircraft
(PRWEB) December 21, 2016 -- It’s as simple as swapping out the box. The same technology developed by Stauder Technologies to extend the digital interoperability of the AV-8B Harrier is now available to deliver similar results for F-16s.
Among the first to capitalize on the newly available capability, the Royal Danish Air Force is contracting with Stauder Technologies to replace avionics boxes on its F-16s with HydeDM™302 VMF Modems, the company announced today. By partnering with Stauder Technologies, Denmark leads the charge to make F-16s operationally relevant again for the Digitally Aided Close Air Support mission.
Over the next 18 months, Stauder Technologies will deliver HydeDM™302 VMF Modems to replace the IDM 302 avionics boxes in all of RDAF’s F-16s. By simply replacing the old box, RDAF F-16s are immediately interoperable with all NATO and ally JTAC ground kits, as well as any VMF capable airborne platform. This low cost approach is plug and play, requiring no aircraft modifications.

The HydeDM™ 302 is a member of the Stauder Technologies Hyde™ family of battlefield interoperability systems, designed to be a low cost “plug and play” avionics replacement. The HydeDM™ 302 is packaged with the Joint Effects and Coordination Link (JECL®) digital interoperability engine, which guarantees compatibility with other Digitally Aided Close Air Support (DACAS) systems. Stauder Technologies has chosen Aeronix to supply the hardware and provide radio connectivity through their WinIDM™ Core technologies.
Stauder Technologies is leveraging years spent developing the Hyde™ AVT for the United States Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier. The Hyde™ AVT offers “plug and play” DACAS compliant features and is currently being installed on all AV-8Bs. The F-16 variant, the HydeDM™302, replaces the IDM 302 without physical or software modifications to the aircraft. The F-16, like the AV-8B, can now extend its digital interoperability on the battlefield well into the future.
