New memoir by Rudolph Halouk Daus takes readers across globe
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (PRWEB) January 13, 2015 -- Author Rudolph Halouk Daus shares a lifetime of poignant memories from his personal and professional life in his new memoir, “The Crescent Odyssey: From Ottoman Roots to American Warship Captain” (published by iUniverse).
From a young age, Daus’s heritage influenced his development. His mother was an Ottoman princess and his father was an American Beaux Arts-educated entrepreneur with Jewish Rabbinical and French Catholic roots. Stories of his maternal grandfather, Bahri Pasha the Ottoman warrior and governor, played a great role in the development of Daus’ psyche.
After escaping Nazi-occupied France, Daus and his family settled in New York. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy and later enlisted as an ensign. He rose to the position of captain before launching his career as a law firm manager and later as an entrepreneur. His odyssey takes readers from the United States to Turkey and beyond.
Daus describes the events of his life as star-crossed. His memoir depicts many interactions with colorful characters who influenced and helped shape Daus’ character. He hopes readers will find kinship and adventure within the pages of his book.
“Mostly, ‘The Crescent Odyssey’ is a buoyant tale with faith in fellow travelers and humanity,” Daus writes. “It leaves you at peace, at peace with yourself, at peace with your soul mate and hopeful for the next turn in your own odyssey toward your destiny.”
