New Memory Game, PUSH Buttons, is the Mouse Trap Board Game of the Digital Age
Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) October 27, 2013 -- PUSH Buttons is a new app and game, created by Rashid Al-Khalifa, for mobile devices that tests users’ memory. The acronym P.U.S.H. stands for Perpetual Unstoppable Synchronization Hub, similar to the Mouse Trap board game, a deliberately over-engineered mouse trap that performs the simple task of catching a mouse in an extremely complex fashion, including a chain reaction.
The memory app is similar to the Mouse Trap board game in which players earn a virtual piece of the chain reaction hub by playing the game. As players advance, the levels become more challenging, putting the player’s memory to the ultimate test while earning objects that will ultimately comprise the entire chain reaction. Once all levels have been completed and all pieces of the hub have been earned, the player has beat the game and then gets to watch the chain reaction of Professor Button’s creation for the science fair.
What sparked Al-Khalifa’s interest in the brain’s memory function was the World Memory Championships, an organized competition of mental sports in which competitors memorize as much information as possible within a given period of time. The competitors are then tested on how much of that information was retained. The Championship has taken place annually since 1991 and this past year, Al-Khalifa attended the championship for the first time.
“After attending the World Memory Championship, and watching all of the different competitions, I was in complete awe,” says app creator Al-Khalifa. “These contestants were able to memorize over 200 numbers and repeat them back aloud. I felt inspired to create an app that could help people improve their memory, but in a way that is so much fun, they don’t even know they’re brushing up on their memory skills.”
The PUSH Buttons app and Mouse Trap board game are not the only two perpetual unstoppable synchronization hubs most are familiar with; just a few months ago, Red Bull came out with their very own video of the Athlete Machine, another chain reaction hub of different athletes and superstars playing the sports they know best. In the beginning of the video, a parachutist jumps from an airplane and lands on a pad that initiates the chain reaction. Mechanisms are hit, pendulums swing, bikes and skateboards are ridden, chainsaws cut pieces of the hub and at the end, an ice pick breaks open a block of ice with a can of Redbull inside.
