New Mobile App from Callitics Makes Viral Calls to Congress
Peoria, IL (PRWEB) May 20, 2014 -- A start-up has developed a product that it believes can get America back on track by allowing its users to call Congress on a viral level. “Callitics gives the people back the power over their government,” says Tom Howard, co-founder of the new smartphone app. Callitics is the app’s name and its promoters believe that new technology can mature into a disruptive political force.
“Imagine a call being made to Congress a million times,” says Henry Getz, co-founder of Callitics. The smartphone app allows anyone to create their own call to Congress on any given issue. Users share their calls across social media with the hope it goes viral across America. Anyone that believes in its cause can immediately give Congress a call.
The calls are tracked, turning them into somewhat of a game. A decade ago, people bragged about the number of signatures their online petition received. Callitics changes that into numbers of calls on a certain law. “Do you think Congress would ignore a call made a million times?” asked Getz.
The Callitics app is open for anyone’s vision. It has no party affiliation. Howard, a Democrat, and Getz, a Republican made the software available to all causes. If you support gun rights, you can make a call to congress for that. On the other hand if you want gun control, you can call Congress on that. “Technology is neutral. What the people do with it is up to them,” says Howard. “Squeaky wheel gets the grease.”
There’s a whole new way for Americans to call Congress. Is Washington, D.C. ready for a million phone calls for change? With an election in the coming November, we may find out. When the American people call, hopefully Congress will listen to them.
