New Mobile App Simplifies Finding and Planning Outdoor Adventures
GAINESVILLE, Fla. Digital startup Sportody released its new application to supplement Sportody.com, the online review network for outdoor sports. The free app is available for iOS and Android devices.
Sportody founder and CEO Roger Catchpole says mobile applications are the next logical step for his growing sports network.

The app’s main features are an interactive map that displays adventure opportunities based on location and sport type, and enables users to write and compare reviews for sporting providers in real time. Sporting types include 120 outdoor activities from fishing and cycling to skiing and skydiving. Users can also upload photos, create a bucket list, earn badges and access tips and stories by experts on Sportody’s all-sports blog, the Broadcast.
Although the platform already lists information for more than 80,000 sporting locations in 100 countries, the Florida-based company currently concentrates on the outdoor venues and providers within the Sunshine State. Sportody listings throughout the southeastern United States will advance as the user base grows and adventurers add more reviews. Further expansion nationwide and globally will follow suit.
Catchpole points out that the app not only benefits consumers, but also supports local businesses by providing a way to boost their marketing efforts and connect with new customers and visitors. Outdoor sporting providers can use Sportody as a platform to host customer reviews, upload photos, post information about their services and link to their sites.
By year’s end, Sportody anticipates the release of a provider-specific mobile app, enhanced social media integration for adventurers and further resources for both types of users. Sportody also looks to integrate booking management and payment processing systems within the next year.
