New On-Demand Presentation from SAE International Will Explore Customized Solutions for Lightweight Bonding of Aluminum Structures
WARRENDALE, Pa. (PRWEB) November 18, 2014 -- SAE International offers the new, on-demand presentation, “Adhesive Bonding for Aluminum Lightweight Structures.”
As automakers build lighter vehicles to lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, they’re looking for better bonding technologies that allow the use of new materials and new material combinations.
During this free, 20-minute mini webcast, which is sponsored by DOW, an engineering and applications expert will discuss customized solutions for bonding aluminum body structures and closures on vehicles currently in production. Webcast participants will have the chance to gain insight into the challenges of bonding aluminum substrates, learn how different types of adhesive technologies are used in aluminum bonding, and hear about repair technologies for aluminum vehicles.
In addition, attendees will see how BETAMATE™ structural adhesives have contributed to an estimated 23.3 billion kg CO2 emissions avoidance and 2.65 billion gallons of gasoline savings by providing weight savings of 70 to 100 kg per vehicle. A question and answer session will be included in the presentation.
Lead speaker will be:
• Mansour Mirdamadi, Chief Engineer, Dow Automotive Systems – Mansour Mirdamadi has global responsibility for engineering and application development for Dow Automotive Systems products. He has expertise in design, engineering analysis, and methodology development for body structures and lightweight solutions. Mansour joined Dow in 1988 and has a master of science degree in engineering mechanics and a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Penn State University. He holds five U.S. patents and has contributed to several international publications in the area of vehicle body structures, focusing on structural adhesives and reinforcement systems.
Moderator will be Lisa Arrigo, Custom Electronic Products Editor, SAE International.
