New Online Graduate Sport Management Certificate Now Available from Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management
Amherst, MA (PRWEB) April 22, 2014 -- The Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management at University of Massachusetts Amherst has launched an Online Graduate Sport Management Certificate. This 15-credit certificate enables working professionals to access the highly regarded McCormack Sport Management curriculum and faculty in a convenient, 100% online format.
“A graduate certificate in Sport Management is a great way for sport business professionals to take the next step in their career, or for someone who may be considering a career change into this highly competitive field without interrupting their current professional situation,” states Lisa Masteralexis, Department Chair of Sport Management.
Classes will be offered for the first time in fall 2014. Students can take up to 2 courses towards the certificate before applying to the full program. To earn a McCormack Sport Management Graduate Certificate, students take core curriculum classes as well as electives for a total of 5 or more courses adding up to 15 credits (most classes are 3 credits each) in 3 years or less. Online courses are taught by the same faculty that teach in the highly-ranked graduate programs. Core courses include Sport Law and Sport Management and electives are offered in areas such as Sport Management Policy and Sport Promotions and Sales Management.
“Our faculty are not only researchers and educators, but they have also worked at the highest levels of sport business as well,” continues department head Masteralexis. “They bring real-world perspectives and insights that are not offered at many other graduate programs. And we have the added benefit of being a part of the Isenberg School of Management. We’re completely focused on the business of sport business.”
The Department of Sport Management is a part of the Isenberg School of Management, which has offered an online MBA curriculum for over 12 years and is currently ranked 16th in the country by U.S. News and World Report. This online graduate certificate compliments other programs from the McCormack Department of Sport Management which includes a two-year Full-Time Master of Science Sport Management and a three-year Full-Time MBA/MS in Sport Management. Students who choose to earn an MBA in sport management can apply certificate credits to an online or on-campus degree.
