New Orleans Google Glass Demos Offer A Glimpse into the Future of Computing
New Orleans, LA (PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- The New Orleans tech community is receiving access to Google Glass in the form of live demonstrations. Allyson Seitzler, Founder and CEO of Webtyde Internet Marketing, was selected as a beta tester for the Explorer edition of Google Glass. Seitzler partnered with software and mobile application developer Barrett Conrad of Red Ticket Games and Cotingasoft, and business IT consultant and website developer Brian Jones of Mirliton Media to share their knowledge of the device’s capabilities and hardware through demonstrations and discussions on Google Glass marketing and application development.
The physical demonstrations offer participants an exclusive chance to get hands-on experience with Google Glass, an opportunity otherwise limited to those selected for the beta test phase. Seitzler, Conrad, and Jones have hosted demonstration at New Orleans Hack Night, Lunch and Learn at LaunchPad, and have tentative plans to demo at Idea Village in the Fall.
Looking to the future of Google Glass application development, Conrad views more such demonstrations to be the key to adaptation and growth within the New Orleans tech community. "At this point, access to Glass is the biggest hurdle for developers. People need first-hand experience to conceive the revolutionary ideas," says Conrad.
The response to the demonstrations has been positive. "Developers are excited to get in and have the opportunity we are offering to see the glasses, demo them, and be able to start building applications," Seitzler says. While application development is in its infancy, the larger questions coming forward are what the device will be capable of as it grows in use and how it will affect current marketing and design.
"With the recent addition of a web browser for Google Glass, the importance of responsive website design is no longer solely for mobile phones," says Seitzler. Continuing her demonstrations, she hopes to establish Google Glass marketing and optimization as the next step for companies.
Focused for now on the New Orleans tech community, Seitzler finds the location to be ideal for the technology. With tourism driving hyper local search within the city, businesses have a unique opportunity for early adoption of Google Glass marketing in New Orleans. "It’s not a matter of if," Seitzler says of widespread use of the product, "but when."
