New Patent Enhances Inmate Authentication Features
(PRWEB) December 02, 2014 -- Inmate communications leader Telmate announces the issuance of a new patent (U.S. Patent No. 8,903,060) for individual location tracking of inmates in detention environments.
In June, Telmate was issued a patent (U.S. Patent No. 8,761,360) covering automated updates of an inmate’s assigned room based on terminal logins and related, secondary biometric authentication. This latest patent (8,903,060) has a broader scope and is not limited to having to be a biometric, thus adding the flexibility to authenticate inmate’s identities. By having these multiple layers of verification, Telmate is able to further prevent fraudulent activity and identity theft among inmates. For example, if an inmate attempts to log in with someone else’s pin number at a Telmate Station, the system will prompt them to enter information that only they can identify (birthdate, social security number, etc.). Oftentimes, pin numbers get stolen or extorted from inmates, leaving their accounts empty and dry.
