New Principal Appointed at Leman Academy of Excellence
Parker, Colorado (PRWEB) September 05, 2017 -- The Leman Classical School board appointed Dr. Jason Edwards to the position of School Principal of Leman Academy of Excellence at the July 13, 2017, board meeting. His background gives him a unique understanding of the complexities involved in the process of building quality educational programs.
Dr. Edwards brings over a decade of teaching experience and has been working in Douglas County charter schools both as teacher and administrator since 2011. He initially taught history at SkyView Academy in Highlands Ranch. Next, he was part of the start-up administration team of Aspen View Academy in Castle Rock, where he then served as Principal for two years. Along with his experience in Douglas County charter schools, his passion for history, and his appreciation of Charlotte Mason’s approach to education, the board agreed his methods align strategically with Leman Classical School’s purpose.
His academic achievements include a master’s degree in educational leadership from Trinity Western University in British Columbia and a doctorate in educational foundations and leadership from George Fox University in Oregon. His dissertation explored the relationship between teacher effectiveness and servant leadership.
“The Leman Classical model is really all I could hope for in a school: virtues and values are at the forefront of our purpose, scholars can enjoy a feast of content-rich classical curriculum, teachers are guided by Charlotte Mason’s time-tested philosophy, and families are empowered with Dr. Kevin Leman’s wisdom about family dynamics, holistic growth, and healthy relationships,” Dr. Edwards said.
The Leman Classical School board is a Colorado nonprofit that is collaborating with the Arizona Leman Academy of Excellence charter schools to bring the first Classical Education charter school to Parker. The academy’s mission and philosophy resonated so deeply with Dr. Edwards, he moved to Arizona to serve as Vice Principal and learn the intricacies of a Leman Academy of Excellence school before returning to Colorado in his new role. He will move back to Colorado for the 2018 school year.
“It takes just a few minutes with Jason to see that respect, kindness and integrity are the hallmarks of his leadership style; I have no doubt that he will foster a school culture steeped in those attributes,” said Leman Classical Board President Victoria Hostin.
Wendi Burkhardt, LCS Board member said, “As an entrepreneur who has hired many employees, I recognize that Jason’s experience, skills and expertise are perfectly aligned to our needs as a new, Classical-model charter school. This synergy, combined with Jason’s dedication to the Leman model, is rare to find.”
Once a month, Dr. Edwards will lead a series of open houses at the Parker Library, 20105 Main Street, Parker, CO, where he will be available to meet scholars, answer questions, and engage with the parent community. A Ground Breaking Ceremony will be held Tuesday, September 26, at 6:00 p.m., with Dr. Edwards and Leman Academy of Excellence founder Dr. Leman at the construction site on the southwest corner of Stroh and Parker Roads.
