New Research: Connectivity of Mobile Devices Increases Work Hours for Federal Decision Makers
Fairfax, Va. (PRWEB) April 06, 2016 -- More than eighty percent of federal decision-makers believe that mobile devices are critical to their jobs, make them more productive, and increase their work hours according to a PulsePollTM from Market Connections.
This morning at the ATARC Federal Mobile Computing Summit, Market Connections released results from their recent federal mobility PulsePoll™, a follow up to a 2013 study on mobility. This study delves into the type of work-related content and media federal decision-makers are viewing on their mobile devices, how much extra time and work they spend on mobile devices outside of traditional business hours, and top barriers they faced in accessing data on their devices.
Key findings include:
• Tablet use for work-related tasks has increased significantly since 2013.
• Over three-quarters of federal decision-makers generate three or more hours of work per week due to the connectivity they have with mobile devices.
• Over eighty percent spend fifteen minutes or more generating work on weeknights and weekends, while nearly seventy-five percent generate the same amount of work per day while on vacation. These percentages increased significantly when government employers provided mobile work devices.
New this year, decision-makers shared the top work-related content and media they access on their mobile devices outside of normal work hours. Not surprisingly, work email was the top content accessed in all timeframes, followed by news websites. On weeknights, weekends and vacation, social media ranked number three. White papers replaced social media as top content when respondents are on business travel.
About the Study
Two hundred federal decision makers responded to the blind online survey in March 2016, with seventy percent of the participants being federal civilian or independent employees and thirty-one percent work for the Defense Department or a military agency.
