New Smope App Gives Depression an Unexpected Knockout
Lancaster, Pennsylvania (PRWEB) August 25, 2015 -- Ruby L. Taylor suffered from depression after experiencing a traumatic brain injury. She created the Smope App (http://www.smope.net) to help the masses experience better days by using the same techniques that helped her after her injury. She found that looking at images that elicit positive emotions helped to ease her depression.
Ruby’s personal journey led her to create the app. “It is my hope to let the world know - no matter your obstacles - if you believe and work hard any obstacle can turn into a dream come true. The Smope App is that for me and so much more,” said Ruby. The app brings good memories back to life and adds a dash of inspiration. With the app, users can use their own personal images and images that bring them happiness to activate the part of the brain that can bring happiness and hope.
After her injury, Ruby was rendered incapable of feeling positive emotions. She endured an entire year without the human emotions of laughter, happiness, or a smile. When she decided she had had enough, Ruby took her happiness into her own hands and began looking at images and affirmations that gave her a glimmer of hope and happiness. And eventually, she found a way to smile again.
Ruby went from a severe depression that put her on the verge of committing suicide, to becoming one of the first brain injured - black female app creators. She is possibly the only black female app creator who has suffered a traumatic brain injury. She overcame the obstacles in order to better herself and to return smiles and hope to those in need. Her goal is to bring 1 million smiles to the world by 2017 using the Smope App.
