New South Lake Tahoe Lakeside Luxury Hotel to Open in November: The Landing Resort & Spa Part of Tahoe South Renaissance
South Lake Tahoe, California (PRWEB) September 24, 2013 -- South Lake Tahoe’s old Royal Valhalla Lodge is no more – the old sign was removed on August 29 to make way for new construction on The Landing Resort & Spa. The new lakeside resort, an 88-room luxury Lake Tahoe hotel, restaurant, spa and conference center, is slated to open November 22, 2013, one of a number of projects that are bringing a new hip energy and cachet to the popular California resort town’s southern shores known as Tahoe South.

A multimillion-dollar luxury resort will await guests when The Landing opens in November, with 88 guest rooms, all with fireplaces and most with a view of Lake Tahoe. Marble bathrooms, high thread count linens, 55-inch wall mounted televisions, Keurig coffee service and luxurious contemporary European furnishings complete the rooms.
On-site dining will be offered at the new Jimmy’s Restaurant, serving wood-fired Greek seafood and locally sourced California cuisine. The new Tahoe restaurant includes several private dining alcoves with fireplaces, as well as outdoor fire pits on a lakeside patio. Additional resort amenities include a wine cellar and bar, a full service spa and hair salon, outdoor pool and hot tub, a 2,000-square-foot rooftop deck, a lake-view meeting room and board room, and the lake-front patio.
In December 2011 the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority rebranded the South Shore of Lake Tahoe as Tahoe South in a multimillion-dollar campaign that included a new logo and website, as well as a San Francisco area advertising outreach. The goal was to portray Tahoe South as “more hip, more fun, more energetic than the North Shore,” according to an article in the "Lake Tahoe News."
Since then, a number of new and refurbished lodging options and restaurants and a new pier have joined the revitalization. Entrepreneurs and investors are “pumping millions into improvements and new construction,” according to a Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority news release. On the public works side, the U.S. Highway 50 South Shore Community Revitalization Project, which reimagines a 1.5-mile section of the highway as a pedestrian-friendly Main Street, is moving forward, and the U.S. Forest Service is undertaking an $8 million remodel of Camp Richardson Campground. An alliance of South Tahoe lodging properties also is working with the City of South Lake Tahoe to brand the Lakefront District as a distinct neighborhood.
