New St. Paul Foundation Empowers Vulnerable Youth
St. Paul, MN (PRWEB) January 31, 2015 -- “In our culture, it’s tempting to turn away from the hurt and pain of others to distance ourselves from the scary fact that horrible things happen everyday.” -Anna Whiston-Donaldson, Author, on the loss of her 12 year-old son, Jack.
The Irreducible Grace Foundation is launching to support vulnerable youth and young adults, especially those who have emerged out of Foster Care and State guardianship, in their transition to adulthood. It is our belief that we can no longer turn away from this group of individuals because we are afraid to hear the scary facts of the horrible things that happened in their lives.
IGF works with vulnerable youth in Saint Paul, MN, to create new ways to care for youth who have been harmed by the choices of the adults around them. This group of youth has created a workshop-formatted play to inform the community of the barriers they have overcome, titled "Fostering Voice."
One of the outcomes desired by this group of youth is to have a role in assisting other youth-in-care to share their thoughts, wisdom, and opinions with the adults who make the decisions about their welfare. All too often, vulnerable youth are the last to be consulted or considered when critical life decisions are made. Our youth in "Fostering Voice" are intent on changing that by sharing their stories in this honest and dynamic workshop/performance that will have its community debut in April 2015 at Park Square Theatre in downtown Saint Paul.
The Irreducible Grace Foundation works with vulnerable youth; especially those who are aging out of foster care or state guardianship, to become highly successful adults. We assist youth to develop/repair emotional trust in adults, while planning and achieving their college, career, and life goals.
