New Teaching Strategy Increases Student Engagement, Literacy Development
Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) January 23, 2014 -- School Improvement Network, the leader in educator effectiveness resources, today announced a new video segment showing a teaching strategy to increase student engagement and literacy development by allowing students to choose one of five activities to increase their reading and writing skills. The video segment is available to all educators as part of “Strategy of the Week,” a weekly publication with teaching strategies to increase student learning and educator effectiveness.
“Allowing students to choose how they demonstrate mastery or study a concept is an important teaching strategy to give students ownership over their learning and increase student engagement,” said Chet D. Linton, CEO and president of School Improvement Network. “Through our research and work in thousands of classrooms, we have seen firsthand the positive impact these teaching strategies can have on student engagement and learning.”
In this video segment, educators will see a 2nd grade Georgia educator demonstrating the “Daily 5TM” in her classroom, a teaching strategy that increases student engagement and literacy by allowing students to choose between five different reading and writing activities to practice and advance their skills.
