New Technique Uses Fat to Rejuvenate Skin
Winter Park, Fla. (PRWEB) December 17, 2013 -- A new medical technique known as Nanofat Skin Rejuvenation Therapy uses body fat to restore a person’s youthful appearance. One expert says that the benefits of using fat’s stem and regenerative cells allow the skin to maintain a fresh look.
Dr. Jeffrey Hartog attended and spoke at the International Federation for Adipose Therapeutics and Science conference in New York City recently, where he gained additional insight into using body fat for beauty procedures.
“Many men and women dislike fat and try hard to rid themselves of it,” said Hartog. “It’s great that studies like the one from the National Center for Biotechnology Information (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23783059) continue to show ways that we can use the stem and regenerative cells in fat to improve looks.”
Distinct from traditional fat grafting, the nanofat therapy technique utilizes the additional step of liquefying fat into a very fine consistency. As with regular grafting, fat is gently removed from areas of the body; with the nanofat technique, the fat is placed as a very thin liquid layer directly under the skin using a very fine needle. This provides an ideal and smooth restoration to fine facial lines, wrinkles, neck lines and sun damage effects in the decolletage area.
To maximize the skin rejuvenation results, nanofat therapy can be used in conjunction with chemical peels or laser resurfacing.
“This is a natural way to improve your looks, and the skin rejuvenation benefits alone are worth individuals learning more about this technique,” Hartog said. “Using fat as a filler has clear advantages to artificial fillers. These include the fact that the materials used in the procedure come from the patient’s own body, so there is little risk of rejection.”
Those with acne scars and other facial scars see improvement and diminished appearance of their imperfections.
“Using fat as a filler will provide a more permanent fill, unlike some fillers that absorb over time,” explains Hartog.
Hartog is well known for using fat grafting to reconstruct women’s breasts after mastectomies.
One of the leading authorities on fat grafting, Hartog and the Bougainvillea Clinique are the first to allow patients to store their fat for future use in the FDA-registered Liquid Gold lipobank. A long-term, natural resource, stored fat offers patients a much more economical alternative to repeated use of artificial fillers.
Located in central Florida, the Bougainvillea Clinique is the premier destination for people seeking the best in cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. Jeffrey M. Hartog, M.D., and his wife, Michelle Hartog, R.N., established these facilities with the goal of improving people’s quality of life through state-of-the-art plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures. The practice is adjacent to the Aesthetic Surgery Center of Winter Park – a free-standing state- and federally licensed surgical center that caters to all client needs.
