New Texas Fertility Center Military Discounts Salute Soldiers and their Spouses
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) July 08, 2014 -- A new fertility drug discount program for service men and women complements the longtime 50% military discount program offered by Texas Fertility Center in Austin, Round Rock and San Antonio.
Compassionate Corps, offered by EMD Serono, provides access to free fertility drugs to eligible medically retired service men or women (and their spouses) who have suffered injuries that prevent conception. Because of TFC’s established commitment to serving our nation’s military, the fertility practice was one of the first to be considered for inclusion in the Compassionate Corps program.
“Since 2000, Texas Fertility Center has recognized the amazing sacrifices of our armed forces by making infertility care accessible and affordable to our nation’s heroes,” says Dr. Anthony Propst, decorated and retired Air Force Colonel and director of TFC’s Round Rock fertility clinic.
Dr. Propst, former Director of IVF at Wilford Hall Medical Center, San Antonio and one-time Chief Consultant to the Air Force Surgeon General, consulted on the Compassionate Corps program.
Fertility Affordability Programs Leave No Man or Woman Behind
U.S. Military fertility coverage provided by TRICARE does not extend to the advanced treatment of in vitro fertilization - IVF, or fertility preservation. These mission critical services can oftentimes provide the only viable option for men and women facing severe infertility, or the reproductive challenges caused by deployment.
According to Pentagon statistics, more than 1,830 Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans suffered injuries that significantly impaired their ability to have children.
“Fertility drug discounts, coupled with TFC’s discounted physician fees, help ease the burden for our nation’s heroes who are forced to pay out of pocket for infertility treatment,” Dr. Propst says.
The military discount, provided by TFC board certified reproductive endocrinologists, applies to the following fertility treatment options:
• In vitro fertilization - IVF - with or without donor sperm or donor egg services
• Intrauterine insemination - IUI __title__ ]
• Surgical treatment of endometriosis
• Surgical treatment of uterine fibroids
• In-office procedures such as hysteroscopy, saline sonogram, or ultrasound examinations
• Ovulation induction
• Egg freezing and frozen embryo transfers

Compassionate Corps is a new outreach effort serving veterans and their spouses. EMD Serono offers Compassionate Care and Compassionate Corps through select fertility centers in the United States, including Texas Fertility Center.
• Compassionate Care provides a 25-75% discount for fertility medication to active and retired military personnel who are income eligible and self-pay patients.
• Compassionate Corps offers free fertility medications to retired military (and their spouses) when diagnosed with service-related injuries that cause infertility. This program also applies to income eligible and self-pay patients.
