New Thriller from Jessi Hersey Explores Suicide, Dirty Money

Mike is determined to escape his family’s past and prides himself on his honesty. Abbey is busy grappling with her emotions as she helps traumatized students handle a fellow student’s suicide. Hersey combines Abbey and Mike’s very different stories, joining the two on a blind date. Unaware that Mike is hiding a dark secret, Abbey lets her guard down and falls in love with Mike, who involves her in a deadly web of lies.
“Abbey is the hero,” Hersey explains. “She’s the one moving the story along, taking on the stereotypical male role. Mike takes on the love interest role, a role usually set aside for the secondary female character. This type of character development makes my book different from those that comply with the societal norms that usually work the other way around.”
