(PRWEB) January 28, 2014 -- Access Interpreting, Inc., a leading communication access service provider for the Deaf and hard of hearing community, announces its new Video Remote Interpreting Service set to launch in February 2014.
Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) is a revolutionary technology capable of providing access to sign language interpreters when an in-person interpreter is not available.
VRI is ideal for emergency situations, medical consultations, or to connect a Deaf or hard of hearing person living in a rural area to an interpreter. VRI is also an effective solution for Deaf and hard of hearing students in the classroom, giving students access to classes, special programs, and events.
“We are thrilled to offer this innovative new service to the Deaf and hard of hearing community,” said Brad Leon, Vice President & Chief Operating Officer. “With the introduction of Video Remote Interpreting, we now provide communication access services for virtually any type of situation. We believe this new service will make a huge difference in the lives of those within the Deaf and hard of hearing community.”
Using the most up-to-date webcam technology and a high-speed internet connection, Access Interpreting’s VRI service will connect a Deaf or hard of hearing customer to a hearing person, by including a qualified Access Interpreter via television or computer screen. The Deaf or hard of hearing client simply watches the interpreter through the television or computer screen, while the hearing person listens through the speakers. In order to utilize the VRI service, the customer must have access to a webcam, speakers and internet connection.
Competitors offer VRI services that require the use of their own hardware or custom software, or both in some cases. With Access, the process is streamlined and convenient for all clients. Using nothing more than a web browser and a high speed internet connection, you are able to place VRI calls through Access.
Access Interpreting’s VRI services will be available to consumers on demand or by appointment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The Access Interpreting team will work with customers to determine the best solution for each unique customer and situation.
